Ah, but that's your own myopia showing itself. Saving her child, and passing the killers on to others are NOT moral equivalents, even if it was only one other killed, let alone twelve. That you don't understand that puts you on par with one who doesn't think themself a thief if their victim is rich.

If the mother had refused there likely would have been 14 dead. As long as we speculating that is just as likely as the only the mother and her child dead. It would be myopic to think otherwise.

They had RPGs.

Of course. If I had the proper eyeglasses on I would immediately see I had to sacrifice the child, which was under my immediate control, rather than expose a room of people to an unquantified risk.
