Braveheart was an entertaining movie and it was based on true events. As history, however, it wasn't all that. The French held off the Arabs at Poitiers. They contributed a large contingent to the Crusades. They fought the English for 100 years, during which the French population fell by 2/3. They lost 1.4m dead in WWI, which is more than we lost in both wars, by a factor of 3.5, except they had half our population.
And what are they doing now, since the rise of Socialism?
