Mercedes-Benz USA is expected to announce it will move its headquarters to the Atlanta area from New Jersey, ending a more than 40-year connection to the state where it employs about 1,000 people.
The announcement could be made as soon as Tuesday, according to two people briefed on the matter. Mercedes-Benz, a division of Daimler AG DAI, +0.70% , has been based in Montvale, N.J., since 1972. Reports of a possible move first surfaced in December.

Indeed they are moving to the Atlanta metro area, but *NOT* the city of Atlanta. They will be setting up shop in Sandy Springs, a suburb just north of the I-285 loop.

I’m surprised they didn’t move to Dallas, Texas. With all the hard work Chris Chistie has been doing down there I would have thought....................

It’s kind of ironic how many companies are moving from blue states to red states. During the civil war, the blue states had the industry drew in immigrants who fought for the north. Soon the south will be the industrial center of the country.

Better Air connections to the world, fewer feral encounters, lower expenses, both for corporate and for the employees.

He would love to lower taxes, but there’s a small problem called the New Jersey State Legislature:
“In the Senate there are 24 Democrats and 16 Republicans. There are 48 Democrats and 32 Republicans serving in the General Assembly.”

If MB thinks its escaping choking NJ traffic to move to Sandy Springs, its employees will be sadly mistaken. SS, GA has some of the worst traffic imaginable. I know, as I used to work there.

I think it’s less about traffic and more about the Benjamins.
Plus, you’re not in NJ anymore ;-)
