The Breitbart news guy on Twitter (@dboyle1) says that Daniel Webster is now running for speaker. I think that’s an extremely positive sign, as many reps have said this is someone they would support. I also think he wouldn’t have put his name in if there were not a fairly good chance that Boehner didn’t have it locked.
Saw an article on Politico that said at least a dozen Democrats are skipping the vote to go to the Cuomo funeral; this is supposed to raise the threshold to 35 GOP votes needed to oppose Boehner.
Can the tally show how many are absent as well as how many are abstaining (voting present)?
