WASHINGTON The latest head-count shows House Republicans may be within 15 votes of making the first step toward dethroning Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, by forcing a second ballot.
The effort by GOP House members to oust Boehner is gaining momentum, but most of the action on Capitol Hill Monday is obscured from view, with the cajoling and arm-twisting for votes taking place behind closed doors.
Even many of the most conservative Republicans who would be the most likely to vote against Boehner are playing it close to the vest, because, if the speaker survives the coup, he could retaliate by stripping lawmakers of prized committee assignments and chairmanships.
Members have to make a monumental decision, and they have to make it fast: The vote for House Speaker is Tuesday, and Boehners two challengers announced their candidacies just over the weekend, Reps. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, and Ted Yoho, R-Fla.
WNDs Joseph Farah has begun the grass-roots Dont Be Yellow: Dump Boehner Now! campaign, which has already sent some 560,000 letters to House Republicans attempting to mobilize the palace coup.
But it looks like the voters have their back. WND readers have ordered to have delivered more than 500,000 letters urging House members to fire the speaker in its Dump Boehner campaign. And a recent poll found 60-percent of Republican voters want a new speaker.
WND has contacted 65 Republican House members, including the most conservative lawmakers, to ask who they would vote for, and why, but it appears most are waiting to see how much traction the Boehner mutiny gains before casting their lots.
For instance, a spokesman for staunch conservative Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., told WND, Hes keeping his options open.

Right. They don’t have much power in the caucus, but they can gain some influence in the floor vote.
When I was a teenager, I lived in the Washington suburbs. My father was an Army officer, My uncle was the superintendent of the Longworth Congressional Office Building, my cousin was the secretary to my Congressman, my grandmother was a close friend of Senator Fulbright. I knew the entire Arkansas Congressional Delegation and I used to roam the halls of Congress, the Committee rooms and the galleries for entertainment, usually at will, but occasionally with a ticket provided by my cousin.
When I was trying to get an appointment to West Point, I wandered into members offices to plead my case. I was usually politely shewed away, but on a number of occasions, I was ushered into the members office where I had a number of very long chats with Congressmen and Senators who had nothing better to do than talk with a young brash teenager who wanted to go to West Point. The only thing missing in those conversations was the bourbon which was, no doubt, not far away in the desk drawer.
Washington was a different world back then and members of Congress bore no resemblance to their latter day successors. They were not rich men, though they lived comfortably for the most part. While they were keen to make deals, they did it because it was part of the political game. No one expected that they would become wealthy men as a result. Their vote was not for sale, but they would gladly exchange it for a gentlemanly favor. They weren’t plaster saints, but they would be appalled at the greed, corruption, and display of egos that run rampant in today’s Congress. While the Democrats are the worse by far, the Republicans are not at a Boy Scout Camporee by any means.
God save this grand Republic.
I wonder if they just release the same stories every two years. I do find them humorous.
The loss of a freaking chairmanship is not the loss of the election. They will at least secure their next election.
I believe Amash has publicly said he will vote agains’t Boehner tomorrow. God bless him.
“Dont be too hard on Newt. That climate couch must be lonely.”
LOL
“Eric Bolling on The Five just claimed its the far right, and its not going to happen and little Miss Rino Bo Peep Bushbot Dana whats her face chimed in, too. They make me sick.”
******************************************************************************************************
Well, Dana “Wasp” is a long-time Bush worshipper and groveller at the feet of all things RINO, so she can’t help it.
Eric Bolling, on the other hand, is a pretty solid conservative guy. I think his biggest problem is that he seems like he works about 90 hours a week so he may not have taken the time to “commune” with his fellow constitutional conservatives. He needs to take a few hours a week to do that, IMHO.
.
that’s why I believe there are actually 35-50 GOP House members ready to vote against John Boehner ...
The 14-15 “public” Boehner opponents are allowing themselves to be the “target” ...
meanwhile, the other “good guys” are enjoying a good night’s sleep, getting ready for a surprise coup ...
anyway, that’s how I’d manage the battle ...
.
It’s impossible for we casual observers to know. The action is going on behind the scenes as it has always done. History tells us that Boehner will be elected by a wide margin tomorrow and the disappointed will be left to lick their wounds and try to survive off the scraps that fall from the table.
But, Napoleon only had one Waterloo. He came out on top of most the rest. Beat to quarters, I intend to bring her alongside that big Frenchy to our lee.
Like!
No captain can do very wrong if he places his ship alongside that of the enemy.
Do you have a link to the “scores (143) of House GOP representatives” agreeing to vote for Gohmert ?
