Where I live we only have ONE phone company, I tried to change but due the fact that small phone companies get an exemption from competition, I am stuck with either dialup or DSL. There is no cable company here they pulled out and removed all there cable from he poles.

The only other option is satellite Internet, but they use a FAP policy, so there is no other answer for this other then a way to control content and NOT access.

I have no cable company and just one phone company. My main choices are DSL (not good), satellite which i used for years (terrible), and rather sluggish cellular. I use the latter. I pay for two providers which is only slightly better than one since many people's phones will switch to roam after one provider is gummed up. But I can eke out some service most of the time.

I'll tell you what this is really about. It is not to provide some semblance of decent service for folks like you and me, that is out of the question. For one thing we are conservative rural voters. What it is really about is to ensure that city and suburban dwellers have full access to the streaming video circus. That is the second part of the government's "bread and circus" mandate, one of the surest signs of decline and imminent collapse before we are overrun by the Islamic hordes.

What is the big deal with streaming video? Simply that it uses up a huge amount of the internet. Google's youtube and netflix alone use up more than 70% of all bandwidth. The thing is, if you want to watch a decent video like a classic movie, political narrative or educational material, you can easily do that by downloading it at any old speed and watching it later. What is streaming video about? It is really about the violent and/or soft core porn trash served up by most major and minor networks, along with the "news" shows that toe the statist line, along with sports which is the gladiator part of the bread and circuses.

Simply put, the federal-government-enforced prioritization of streaming soft core porn, main stream media dreck and state propaganda passing as news, and gladiator sports is not a valid reason to allow federal control of the internet (sorry for the bold, but some other people here don't get it).

In fact, allowing the government to prioritize streaming video crap will ultimately have the effect of censorship of content like what we are posting here today. The reason for that is empirical. I can tell you for a fact that when people try (mostly unsuccessfully) to use our local cell service to stream video, I get no service. As in zero.
