well... Bye, Huckleberry! Just another nail in your political coffin.
So, you don’t think common core is a big deal? Do you have school aged children or relatives with them? If not, then you have the excuse of being outside the loop, but regardless, you need to do some research. It IS a big deal and it needs to be fought against.
Huckabee should continue doing what he does best — play the bass guitar with his guests and stay out of politics.
“This will make no difference.”
You are right. I guess I will just open another cold one and leave the world to the liberals.
FH !
Agree!
Amen!
Never would have voted for him anyway!
But, I did not know he loved CC.
Might as well brand RINO on his forehead!
I home schooled K through 12. My gripe with public schools goes way deeper than just their trying to raise the standards in math and language via a federal common standard.
Do ou think the public schools do a good job on math and language? Those are the two areas of focus in Common Core. I do not really see what all the hoopla is about. For gosh sakes schools are reading “Heather has two Mommies” and “King and King” to little children. Etc....... So if they have to focus more on math and specific reading, writing and literature (classics) maybe they will have less time for GARBAGE.
I am not for federalized anything. But if the money is already being poured into the schools from the federal gov’t. how about making sure the kids graduate with adequate math and language skills.
All common core is about is raising the math and language skills of high school graduates. That is it. I think there are some computer skills included at this point. Will it make a difference? Probably not. Should it be federal? No but neither should the funding be federal.
Frankly the standardized testing and college admission tests are federal. You would think everyone would choose to meet the standards that are competitive worldwide without having to be forced to do so.
I remember the teachers griping over NCLB money being tied to testing results. This reminds me somewhat of that. No one wants to be accountable. Math and language curriculums in public schools have been a joke for a long time. To me the problem is not a need for a common core curriculum. I think the problem is the teacher’s unions. We need to get rid of them. But that is just me.
In the end, the public schools have sold out to liberal ideology so pushing a little math and classic literature in there is not going to make that much difference.
he cant even play bass well
Huckabee just wants to play with the cool kids. He is out for Huckabee and he will do ANYTHING to reach that goal.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee urged Oklahoma lawmakers to resist throwing out new educational standards the Legislature approved back in 2010...
In the “thinking world”, Huckabee is toast if he supports common core. I have several friends who are teachers and they all state that common core is the worst thing to come along in decades. Many are actually planning to get out of teaching all together and believe me when I say these are GREAT teachers, not “pretenders”.
One of the objectives of Common Core [sic] is to get ethical teachers to retire or resign, so the fill-behind drones can destroy what’s left of the educational system.
Huckaboob is toast anyway, if he thinks he’s going anywhere, he’s kidding himself. He doesn’t even seem to bother to deny anything when he’s called out on stuff like this. It shows that we’re getting his real positions. While refreshing per se, it shows that he’s in the wrong political party.
Any of his positions that are bona fide conservative can be found in other candidates.
Add to that the fact that he’s a loser, and can’t win office again at any level, and we’re back around to electability.
It seems to be working and those “new” replacements don't have a clue as to what it was prior to their being “crowned” graduate and given their degrees. (I have two grand daughters who are conservative and are newly licensed teachers and see nothing bad about common core. Obviously brain washed and have no idea what life was before it came along.)
From what I understand about Common Core, it dumbs down the standards. And they don’t call it “commie core” for nothing. Texas is fighting it tooth and nail because we feel it is Obama’s means of grabbing further control over the next generation in all States. Several other States are trying to go back on their initial commitment to it.
Yes, the public school system basically sucks. I have home schooled and I have other friends and family who do and the poor quality of public school is the primary reason for it. But do you honestly believe that any change proposed under the Obama regime is going to make things better? That man and his minions (and handlers) are all about wrestling power from the people and trashing the country. Education reform under another administration might garner some of my trust, but under the current oligarchy? No way.
If you think Common Core has the intention of making things better you need to do research. After hearing that Huckabee supports it, I am rethinking everything that he has said. The guy can talk a good talk when he wants to , but this makes me seriously doubt him.
