Yesterday, Governor Palin shared a seemingly benign "happy new year" Facebook post that included photos of her son Trig using their dog, Jill Hadassa, as a footstool of sorts. True to form, the media and the Left (pardon the redundancy) jumped at the opportunity to express their outrage. Animal rights groups also made their disapproval of the photos known as well, per POLITICO:
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals called the post inappropriate.
Its odd that anyone let alone a mother would find it appropriate to post such a thing, with no apparent sympathy for the dog in the photo, PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said in a statement to POLITICO.
It is odd, Ingrid, isnt it? Lets flashback to about six months ago to an image shared by Ellen Degeneres on her shows Facebook page:
Its odd that PETA did not make the same statement when Degeneres, their 2009 Woman of the Year, shared a similar photo with her more than 17 million Facebook friends this summer and received more than a quarter of a million likes. Wouldnt PETA expect someone whom they honored to not condone such an action and photo, even if it didnt not involve her or her child?
My post is neither a condemnation or an approval of the photos shared by Governor Palin or Ellen Degeneres. It simply highlights yet another example of the selective outrage of the media and various organizations when it comes to Governor Palin. One moment they are declaring her politically dead and irrelevant; the next moment they are, by the magnitude of their outrage, implying that she has tremendous influence over the publics treatment of animals. Such logical whiplash must be painful.
As the Governor shared last Spring, the Palins received their beautiful dog from the Puppy Jake Foundation which trains dogs to be service animals for wounded warriors and others who need assistance. You can read more about the Foundation here.
(H/T to several sources on Facebook and Twitter who have been circulating the Ellen Show photo)
That’s a cute picture. That dog loves the little girl and she loves him.
Neither dog seemed to even notice. My 7 year old can use our golden as a mattress and it barely phases her
I don't care if Ellen does it.
I don't care if Sarah does it
And if the dogs care, they'll let you know soon enough as the kids hit the floor.
“no apparent sympathy for the dog”
Oh for crying out loud. The dog looks perfectly content to be a “service animal” at the moment and it IS a cute picture. Selective outrage indeed! Get a grip, subhumans!!
I remember a Far Side cartoon showing a couple kids standing on a dog. There is a sign in the yard that says, “Don’t Stand On The Dog!” and an old man is standing at the front door shaking his fist and shouting, “Hey, you kids! Can’t you read?”
If nothing else, PETA is entertaining. Remember when they were calling fish “sea kittens”?
.
If you go to the Ellen D show facebook site (link is above), there are probably 10 or more similar pics in the comments. One very small baby appears to be standing on a boxer’s head..
LOL, that cracked me up.
If the child is disabled, it might be hard to teach him about how much is too far with animals.
The dog doesn't look too happy. But I think if I didn't know that children can fatally injure a dog, I would think it's a cute picture. The children in that family are amazingly beautiful/handsome.
One thing is for sure. If the dog had a problem with it then he would get up and leave at the very least.
The truth eventually bits liars and hypocrites in the ass.
LOL - good one
Footstools are out, but eating the dog is more politically correct.
Sarah Palin. Making liberals heads explode since 2008.
