Ditto here in Eastern Kansas. St. Luke’s South is turning away people. Scary.

This is very common. This time of year and with the ineffectiveness of the vaccine, hospitals are not screwing around.

“Anyone who is sick is encouraged not to visit patients at St. Mary’s Hospital, and no visitors younger than 18 will be allowed in the Emergency Department or patient rooms. People who show signs of being ill are being asked to wear a mask while in the hospital.”
Common sense.

Same here in northern Virginia. Some hospitals are limiting visiting hours and restricting visits to those over 15 years old.

My memory is that in the 50s, 60s and 70s those under 16 could not visit patients in hospitals.

People who suspect they have the flu should stay at home and not spread it! Flu is a nasty disease and is capable of killing people, especially the elderly.
The sickest I have ever been was when an idiot relative brought over her four year old child and said. “She was really sick yesterday but she is ok today”. Well she wasn't ok, she had the flu and it nearly killed me!

Live in western CO now and this has been a local news item since before Xmas. Had my flu shot in early November because I was traveling abroad later that month. Now we're told that this seasons flu shot is only minimally effective against the current strain. Showing my age, back in the late 1950’s the Asian flu epidemic made the rounds in north America ... I was down the better part of a week with it ... it was severe enough that I remember it well ... don't want a repeat.
