2014: Year of Futility in the Fight Against Climate Change

**SNIP**

The Obama administration continued its attack on coal-fired power plants, which provide about 40 percent of US electricity. In June, the EPA proposed new restrictions on carbon emissions that would make it vitually impossible to build a new coal-fired plant in the US. At the same time, more than 1,200 new coal-fired plants are planned across the world, with two-thirds to be built in India and China.

In his 2007 Noble Prize acceptance speech, former Vice President Al Gore warned that the arctic ice could be gone in “as little as seven years.” But arctic sea ice rebounded in 2014 and antarctic sea ice has been growing for decades. According to the University of Illinois, satellites measured global sea ice area at above the 30-year average at the end of 2014.

In September, the United Nations held a climate summit in New York City to urge the world to conserve energy and reduce emissions. Spokesman Leonardo DiCaprio stated, “This disaster has grown beyond the choices that individuals make.” Mr. DiCaprio neglected to mention his frequent flights on carbon-emitting private jets or his ownership of the world’s fifth largest yacht, purchased from a Middle East oil tycoon.

“In June, the EPA proposed new restrictions on carbon emissions that would make it vitually impossible to build a new coal-fired plant in the US.”

Let’s make it clear that it’s illegal for the fascist EPA to write laws. Only Congress may write laws. The fact that Congress allows this unconstitutional law-writing tells us that Congress is complicent in imposing unlawful and seditious fascism on Americans.

Time for the Rostkenowski solution:

With a payoff size of the one the Global Climate Change hoax promises you bet he won’t give up.

It is physically impossible to have more surface ice area without a thickening. The Ice would break up and not be able to stay solid otherwise. Physics always rules.

I don’t understand how anyone can formulate such a phrase as “fight against Climate Change” and not realize what a load of nonsense it is. How does one fight that? More basically, what the hell is “climate change”? Do they listen to themselves?

The Warmists claim it's “thin” ice in relative terms.

In other words - 1 square mile of 6 foot ice is just half as much as 1 square mile of 12 foot ice.

I have been avoiding ice discussions because I don't have a counter argument, or a data link, for the “thinner ice” ice issue.

That should be irrelevant. They have no proof or documentation for their melting assertion; why should you need a documented counterargument?

Rule #1 -- Never accept their premise...

You cannot support thin ice at perimeters without a thickening of the old ice. The two have too occur simultaneously. Otherwise it all breaks apart.

As for the Antarctic, the Warmists now claim that ice below the continental surface ice is melting and runs off into the surrounding sea. That flow of ice melt, according to the Warmists, chills the sea, causes more sea ice to form, but, the net result is less total ice, just more surface ice.

The new Antarctic ice is 800 miles from the continent so it has nothing to do with fresh water or colder water. It is due to two factors, colder weather and wind blowing ice away from the continent. The wind is a factor only in part of West Antarctica. The rest is simply colder weather (also generally stormier but that means winds blowing towards the continent).

The Arctic ice thickness comes from a model and it is probably at least a little bogus. For one thing the model shows volume going to zero in 20 years which will not happen. Second, the volume bounces back impossible amounts (e.g. 50% increase in one year) which shows they really are not estimating volume properly. The bottom of this chart is zero ice: http://psc.apl.uw.edu/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/schweiger/ice_volume/BPIOMASIceVolumeAnomalyCurrentV2.1.png (although they are obfuscating it by using the anomaly) and that is absurd.
