I guess this is a growing problem. Our local beaches (North East Florida) you take your child to a lifeguard station and they put a wrist band on the child with a parents contact number so if you find a kid wandering at the beach the lifguard or police can contact the parent and let them know where to pick up the kid. It’s amazing we have gone that far down the responsibility department.

I was once on the board of our Community and the woman in charge of the swimming pool was having a heck of a time with people leaving their children alone, at the pool, when there was no lifeguard. Up to this point, the children were always accompanied by an adult, usually the parent; but, times had changed (about 10 years ago). We had a discussion about this, and she said something that I still remember; "People just don't know how to raise their own kids anymore."
