Public hearings across all of Minnesota next week for Sandpiper oil pipeline

DULUTH, Minn. -- The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission will take public testimony next week at five hearings across the state on the all-new Enbridge Energy Sandpiper pipeline set to run from Beaver Lodge, N.D., to Superior, Wis.

This round of hearings is intended to focus primarily on the "need" for the new pipeline -- both Enbridge's need to serve their customers -- oil companies -- and whether Minnesota really needs another pipeline to carry oil that will mostly go to other states.

Usually the commission and an administrative law judge also would hear testimony on possible routes for the proposed pipeline. But that issue remains in play, and -- with several groups pressing for new routes to be considered -- won't see public hearings until later in 2015.

That delay over potential routes -- some groups want the pipeline to avoid northern Minnesota lakes and rivers, or avoid the region altogether -- already has set the project back at least a year. Enbridge announced in September that the 616-mile pipeline won't be ready until at least 2017, a year later than the company's original estimate.

Then, of course, they whine about oil being transported by rail or truck. Which is infinitely more dangerous and hazardous to the environment than a pipeline.

We have to start focusing on this.

The envirowackos are telling people these lines are more dangerous because framed oil has a lower ignition point and are dangerous, and that it will reduce the values of their homes. They figure that if they can shut down the lines they can kill t he franking operations.

They are doing this in Pennsylvania, New York State and New Jersey. Now Minnesota. Probably in other states.

Dems are spearheading this so Obama us probably behind this.

Here’s an idea: let’s get rid of those eeevil power transmission lines and just deliver electricity by batteries on big trucks.

How about filling the Boundry Waters nature area with windmills so we won’t need any oil? So a few bald eagles will get chopped up and other forest critters will be disrupted, but hey this is green energy so all is good. (sarcasm)

I know for a fact their are far more drunk illegals with no license or insurance driving the highways than driving the railroad tracks.
