Here's a thought experiment: Try physically taking over a random Mexican city police headquarters next time you're down there. Think that all that would happen to you would be an arrest for "disturbing the peace?"

These aren’t “protesters”.

They are terrorists and should be treated accordingly

The police should have produced their billy clubs and laid the protesters heads open. Those filthy protesters were interfering with the ability of the police to react to a possible emergency.

Just thinking out loud here. Take the names of all the protesters. The next time one of them call in to report an armed robbery, assault, domestic violence, etc.... forward the call top Al Sharpton. I am certain he will right over to personally deal with the perpetrators.

I think a good alternative is for judges to consistently apply the maximum punishments for lawbreaking protesters.

Right now, across most of the US, even violent protesters can break laws that could be punished with up to a year in jail with a $5,000 fine, yet only be sentenced to time served.

With a slight change in the law, there could be a *minimum* sentencing guideline for *half* the maximum sentence, but otherwise the full sentence would be the standard punishment.
