I worked for Sony 1988-1994 and again from 2002-2008. There is a lot of difficulty marrying a company which produces highly innovative quality electronic products with one which produces entertainment. When you throw all the cultures of the world into the mix, it unbelievably complicates things even further.

Add a CEO who has little background in either world and is mostly skilled at schmoozing and brown nosing because of a novelty or PC factor (first foreign CEO of a Japanese company) and you have a recipe for a disaster of exactly this kind of thing.

I'm very grateful that Sony sold our part of the company to an outside group without this sort of recipe.
