It doesn't follow, any more than the state laws that were enforced in the 1800s in this country brought us closer to Sharia.
Natural law being reflected in positive law is not a slippery slope to Sharia. Sharia is a perversion of Natural Law.

I doubt he’s advocating shari’a but enforcement would require religious police. A good name for that police force would be something like Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.
