At sixteen, I'd chalk it up to ignorance.
No doubt it was ignorance. I guess she didn't have anyone to take care of her "stupids."
I was that way at 16, naive, ignorant and sometimes stupid, but I had a VERY protective father.
Lol. His voice was basso profundo and it scared my girlfriends and intimidated my dates. :o) So, nothing happened to me as my dates all KNEW that they had better get me home, ON TIME, undamaged. They did and I never looked back.
Life was good. Heck, it still is.
