The original movie of the Broadway show wasn’t particularly good, either. The TV movie was somewhat better. I haven’t seen it on bway, but my wife and daughter have twice.
There also used to be an electronics chain called Nobody Beats the Wiz, which took its name from the show.
"C'mon and ease on down, ease on down the Road!"
Stupid.
Will Smith and Denzel Washington are very successful because they appeal to a larger audience.
Black themed movies are after a thin slice of the market.
Oh yeahhhhb.
You know, we watch that every year.
A real family favorite.

I have never had the desire to view the original, let alone a remake.
My family and I just saw it. Like you I found it to be much less obnoxious than I had expected. The hip-hop music is tolerable as it doesn’t delve into the gangsta rap and vitriol laced crap that passes for “urban music”. Unlike you, I found Cameron Diaz delightful in her role. It was a role unlike any I had ever seen her in before. Normally I find her attractive, not in this movie. I thought she pulled off alcoholic white trash nicely...though I agree that Melissa McCarthy might have been much better in the role...all in all, it was entertaining and since we paid matinee prices, worth it...
“Should have named it, Anniequa.
Or Little Oprah Annie.
LOL hee hee
Haaahaaahaaaa.....
I was reading the ‘letters to Santa’ in my local paper. There were some incredible created names.
I already know that the original is way better than this train wreck. I don’t even need to watch it.
They want to indoctrinate the next wave of young blacks with hatred; we can do the same.
Doesn’t Santa get email now?
I’m sure he does BUT our little small town bi-weekly newspaper is still going to run one of it’s biggest money making editions of the year. A whole section devoted to letters to Santa filled with ads from local businesses expressing gratitude to patrons and well wishes for Christmas and a Happy New Year.
apparently. I’ve never seen it but just looked it up and the Wizard or “the Wiz” is played by Richard Pryor.
