Likud Central Committee chairman Danny Danon, who is challenging Binyamin Netanyahu for leadership of the party, on Saturday night called on Israel to respond to an expected UN recognition of the Palestinian Authority (PA) as the "state of Palestine" by declaring sovereignty in Judea and Samaria.
"We must clarify in the clearest terms to the world that every unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state will bring Israeli sovereignty," declared Danon in a meeting with Likud activists in Judea's Gush Etzion region.
Prime among the attendants at the meeting were Kiryat Arba Regional Council head Malakhi Levinger and Deputy Gush Etzion Regional Council head Moshe Savil.
"When a senior member of the Palestinian Authority, (chief negotiator) Saeb Erekat, dares to claim Israel equals ISIS (Islamic State), it's a sign that truly there is no one to talk with on the Palestinian side," said Danon.
Erekat announced last Friday that the UN will likely vote on Monday on a unilateral PA resolution, which demands recognition, Israeli withdrawals from eastern Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria by 2017, and prior to that a 12-month deadline for wrapping up negotiations on a final settlement.
"If on this coming Monday the UN recognizes a Palestinian state, the state of Israel must respond with unilateral steps (as well), including implementing sovereignty," declared Danon.
Russia has said it will support the resolution, and while US Secretary of State John Kerry has not publicly stated that Washington would use its veto against the resolution, his spokeswoman recently said the United States will not support the resolution.

How many Affirmative Action Nobel a Peace Prizes is one person entitled to?
Not quite. Israel needs to “annex” all of its land including Samaria/Judea...but in actuality, in fact, in deed... not just in a Parliamentary vote in Jerusalem. Stop stalling and get on with rebuilding your country there.
(A secondary but very useful benefit of this will be to alleviate Israel’s housing shortage among its younger people in particular... a problem mostly created by Jerusalem’s silly-assed, counter-productive “building moratoria”.)
Just send in two proof-of-purchase seals from Pablum Puke cereal, and you can get a truck full.

On the other hand, maybe he meant that as praise for Israel, that we’re just as wonderful as their heroes, the holy warriors of DAESH.
Thank you, Germany.
WHY would a sovereign nation cede to an idea ... a bad idea at that ?
"The palestinians" are not an ethnicity or a race .. not a gender nor a political entity ... the "palestinian" is an old term to mean Arabs that live over in that neighborhood over there... like ... Chinatown is not China ... just a bunch of Chinese living in that neighborhood over there.
Those 'palestinians' are those Arabs that live over there.

The U.N. Charter must have a fundamental rule and it must be enforced: any member State, people, or political entity seeking recognition or protection of any form by the U.N. must formally acknowledge and recognize the right of any and all U.N. member States the right to exist, in advance of any grievance being received by any committee, subcommittee, or the body of the U.N.
When “Palestine” is recognized as a nation then shooting missiles into Israel will be a declaration of war.
At last, Israel will be cleared to defend itself...with no quarter given.
Dream on, my friend. Dream on.
(Just keep the perimeter well guarded....)
Of course, that will require a clear and inflexible policy requiring permanent deportation of all "Palestinian" agents in the West Bank fomenting insurrection and terrorist acts within the new borders of Sovereign Israel.
Further, if "Palestine" deems itself independent enough to care for all its citizens needs, including food, building materials, power, water supplies and sewage sanitation needs, Israel's citizens no longer have the burden of providing any of those basic needs.
Weapons manufacture and storage will not be tolerated and must targeted without prior notice. Sovereign states can and should plan for the safety of its own citizens. It is their responsibility exclusively.
This will end badly for the world. When "Palestine" is recognized, then alliances and treaties will be written with other nations to defend "Palestine", drawing in other nations to do battle with Israel. Beginnings of a major world war. Coming real soon now.
That’s exactly what Israel needs to do. Forget the artificial divisions into areas A, B and C... just annex Judea and Samaria. Period! Well, maybe let the Philistines keep Gaza, I am sure there is no way to “clean” it. Not even the ashes of a red heifer could clean Gaza. But the area including Gaza and the part of the Sinai offered by Egypt should be enough for those stubborn enough not to return to wherever they came from. Come on, Israel, trust the Lord your God and do it!

Before WW1 that entangling series of treaties was intended to make war impossible. It was intended as a sword of Damocles to hang over the Germans. I don’t know for certain the wording of modern treaties is but if they’re anything like the regular government gibberish they won’t promise the signers will go to war. I think everybody learned from the great war. There will be lots of behind the scenes “help” but it will likely be economic. I don’t see, for example, Russia committing troops against Israel.
Having said that, I confess to a sense of alarm that Obama is now authorized by Congress to directly aid Ukraine. For all the Left’s supposed nuance they strike me as naïve children playing with real weapons.

I would disagree. The purpose of my original statement was to infer that the world is on the same path as existed before WWI. Other nations got sucked into a bloody mess over disagreements between tiny nations, because of alliances. There are plenty of historians who are advisors to "leaders", but not all "leaders" listen to wise counsel. We need to look no further than our own "leader", Obama, who goes against wise counsel selling out our military and friend nations while seeking friendship with our enemies.
Money and resources are the key behind great wars. You don't see Russia committing troops. Yet Russia is in economic turmoil, and that can greatly influence her ties with arab nations. If Russia stirs the pot in the Middle East and shuts off the oil spigot, then she will prosper from higher costs of lessened supplies of oil. Remember, the U.S.A. shut off the Germans and Japanese from resources prior to WWII and they didn't like that at all. Too many people wish for peace but don't understand "leaders" mentality and why they rush to war. I truly believe a great war is coming, and it will shock many who thought never again would it happen.
Think on the bright side. There won’t be another trench war.
No era has a monopoly on incompetent leadership. I suspect that Obama is even worse than Carter. Stalin reportedly turned down a plan to kill Hitler saying, “what if they replace him with somebody competent?” This is the reason I wouldn’t have authorized killing Osama bin Laden. Wars, like accidents, are generally caused by a series of mistakes.
One thing that has never caused a war is being prepared to fight one. I suspect we are weaker now than at any time since Clinton left office. (On his last day half of the Air Force and Navy planes could not fly for lack of a critical system. Spares had not been bought for about seven years.)
