Unlike his predecessor as host of Meet the Press, Chuck Todd is an approachable, un-phony presence. He knows politics and clearly enjoys politics. But, boy, is he excitable, especially on the subject of immigration, where he often lets the drama of the moment cloud his judgment. [You need three examples-ed. Got em.]
1. It’s November 7, 2012. Romney has just lost the presidency, something many analysts immediately blame on his poor showing among Latinos. The Beltway mind instantly draws but one conclusion: Republicans need to assuage Latinos by legalizing illegal immigrants, stat. Obama’s ‘immigration reform,’ Todd says, will get “80 to 90 votes in the Senate. … Republicans will run, not walk, in trying to support that now.” In the event, the Senate “immigration reform” bill got 68 votes. Two thirds of Republican Senators voted against it.
2. After Eric Cantor lost his House seat in the Republican primary — to an opponent who attacked Cantor as soft on “amnesty” for immigrants — Todd flips and declares that Cantor’s defeat
means immigration reform during the rest of the Obama presidency, the idea that it’s gonna happen, is dead. It is not going to happen in 2016. [E.A.]
So far so good on this prediction, at least if Todd’s talking about legislation. But allies of House Speaker Boehner are already arguing for some sort of immigration bill in 2015.

No. Todd won’t be that excitable even if he starts injecting himself with testosterone hourly. More likely his bipolar pronouncements on amnesty reflect, first, the prevailing Washington assumption that amnesty is both inevitable and inarguably desirable. When voters decide it’s neither, Todd is then so shocked (and perhaps, as a politics junkie, so instinctively respectful of democracy) that he swings to the other extreme and assumes it’s dead, dead, dead.

Chuck Todd is an OK pollster for elections. He’s a disaster when he talks politics. Not bright, too excitable, and none too original.

Anyone remember when democrats were going to run on the issue? On how open minded and heroic they were for breaking down the borders and letting illegals in? It wasn't even that long ago... Conservatives were going to be labeled 'xenophobic' and racist for objecting...

This whole amnesty at all costs is such a bone headed thing. I mean, nobody in their right mind can seriously think open borders is a good idea, the reasons why it is not are myriad. I was wondering if even more than short sighted silicon valley types, if this might not just be a thing, because someone who has some resource we want SAYS it is a thing, though probably far from live mics.
Chuck Todd just strikes me as a tool.
The only thing I know about this dufus is he has a goatee. The rest is forgettable.
Too bad the GOPe still won’t see it.

It’s not a question of right, its a question of money. That’s all the DC criminals care about now.
The new campaign donation regulations passed in the Cromnibus bill have increased them. More big money donors will wield more power over DC marginalizing the little guy.

Todd is as left wing as the rest of them.
Chuck is one of the few professional type Jewish guys around that isn’t a college graduate. I think that makes him rather unique, and perhaps feel inferior to all the major domos he interviews.
Maybe, but don’t let yourself be sucked into any kind of propaganda piece trying to make Chuck Todd look conservative or reasonable.
Since I never watch NBC except for sports, I hardly ever even see his cute little face.

Smart liberal is better than ‘what’s this we’re talking about’ liberal. Todd’s interesting at times.
Scratch his name off my list. All this talk about how “interesting” he is makes me think somebody wants to give Chuck Todd an artificial hype for some reason. Careful, or you’ll fall for it.
I thought the writer was talking about Russett, when he was talking about Gregory!! Gregory is the POMPOUS ASS, not Russett.
