A federal appeals court on Monday upheld a 2009 federal decision that called for reducing the amount of water pumped from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta in order to protect salmon and other species.
The 2009 environmental review by the National Marine Fisheries Service found that continuing to pump water from the delta at such a high rate would threaten several endangered salmon species and killer whales.
Some of the states biggest water agencies, including Southern Californias Metropolitan Water District, had challenged the 2009 federal decision.

The 2009 environmental review by the National Marine Fisheries Service is a premeditated FRAUD!
The courts are unequipped to make an objective assessment and prefer to substitute their own political bias.
The salmon and whales will thrive irrespective of the existence of this delta-smelt.
Pump water from the delta to water SJ Valley crops = YES
Pump water from the delta to send to L.A. = NO!
well, never mind those pesky humans lets save their lunch fish and ...killer whales??
overbatheing????
Too bad ALL the fishes’ water can’t be taken from JUST Democrats.
Then everyone would be happy.
The deal is that Southern Ca steals so much water from the delta (and the SJ farmers) already for cosmetic lakes golf courses and other non critical uses that the delta has turned into a mud hole. I own a house on the delta ... so I know. The hyacinth has become a major problem because there is not enough water to circulate thru the sloughs to disperse the weed and other algae. Also when the fresh water is pumped out, brine water from the bay replaces it. That kills the fish. Bottomline ... LA needs to keeps it’s hands off of northern Calif delta water and desalinate its own water.
One thing NO ONE messes with in California is Los Angeles’ water supply. The entire state can be in flames and reduced to ashes but the LA elite will not deal with one drop less of water. LA will drain every drop of water if they have to. If that Delta water was going to Fresno or REdding there would be no lawsuit from LA.
Allot of breedin going on.
Release more ducks!
The north coast is 5 or 6 inches above normal for this time of year and the Eel, Mad and Van Duzer would have been out of the banks if it hadn’t stop raining yesterday. This week is the 50th anniversary of the great flood of 1954 where 29 lives were lost and entire towns were ripped off the map plus 100 miles of the NWP RR was washed out
I remember hearing about that when I was a pre-teen back in Chicago-land!!! I didn’t remember about the 100 miles being ripped off, however! WOW!!! I came to CA 10 years after that.
What happened with alla that hullabaloo with the big, expensive "Bay Delta" CONsensus effort of the late '90s? I thought that was supposed to solve all the percieved problems by any and all "stakeholders" and "claim jumpers" and militant EnvironMental groups and especially media hogging politicians... What Happened???
Mrs. Waspman and I like to come down there and visit your "mud hole" every once in awhile, just for the fun of it. We just like to be near the water, especially when it's hot and we have to wait so long for the Delta Breeze to blow all the way up here in the foothills so we can git to sleep!!!
And once again, the FEDS screw over the people of California...
