Walmart Asked to Stop Bankrolling Sharpton After New York Police Murders
NLPC ^ | December 22, 2014 | Peter Flaherty

Walmart

Here is a letter I sent today to C. Douglas McMillon, Walmart President and CEO:

We ask that Walmart end its financial support of Al Sharpton and his organization, the National Action Network (NAN).

The cold-blooded murder of two New York City police officers, Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu, follows weeks of Sharpton's vilification of law enforcement personnel.

As you know, Walmart has helped bankroll Sharpton for years. Most recently, the company was a sponsor of Sharpton's 60thbirthday party in New York City, which reportedly was a fundraiser for NAN that raised a million dollars.

We have repeatedly raised the issue of your support for Sharpton, including at the Walmart annual meeting. You cannot lay any claim to corporate social responsibility as long as you write checks to Sharpton.

This is not the first time that violence and loss of life have followed Sharpton's agitation, such as in the 1991 Crown Heights riots and the 1995 Freddy's Fashion Mart incident. Sharpton's involvement in these and other abhorrent episodes, such as the Tawana Brawley hoax, are a matter of record. You cannot claim that you are unaware of Sharpton's past record of anti-Semitism and incitement.

Other corporations support NAN, and we will be making the same request of them, but Walmart is Shaprton's biggest and most prominent corporate donor. It is essential that Walmart lead the way in disassociating corporate America from Sharpton's demagoguery.

Police officers are working people whose dedication and professionalism help keep us all safe. They are also Walmart customers and shareholders. You can demonstrate your support for law enforcement by ending your support for Sharpton without delay.END LETTER

National Legal and Policy Center is about to publish a book titled Sharpton: A Demagogue's Rise by Dr. Carl Horowitz of our staff. Carefully documented and footnoted, it will be the authoritative account of Sharpton's life.

The first thing that needs to be changed, In reference to Al Sharpton, is the way he’s addressed. The definition of “reverend”, when used as an adjective (as in Rev. Al Sharpton), is “worthy of reverence.” Al Sharpton is NOT, by any measure of goodness, worthy of reverence.

Where in the Bay Area? I used to go to the one in Pittsburg, it was okay.

I live in Virginia now, the one here isn’t awful.

Al has a non-profit “National Action Network”? I wonder if Lois Lerner approved him for a tax-free IRS status?

James Woods is a consistent, reliable conservative. MIT grad with very high IQ, as well.

Haven’t you heard? Sharptongue is a member of the protected class of people. He isn’t a little peon like you and I.

And even if (not likely) he did end up in prison it would be a “special” one for his kind. More of a country club atmosphere than a real prison. Perhaps he could have an adjoining cell to Jesse hiJackson’s son in Florida?

Woods owns a couple of very profitable businesses. NOT dependent on Hollywood leftists, or anyone else, for that matter. Good for him!

that is why Walmart is wooing Sharpton... they want to be in NYC...

The shoplifting losses would be astronomical.

You all need to read this...LOL

On January 12, 1991, Sharpton escaped serious injury when he was stabbed in the chest in the schoolyard at P.S. 205[109] by Michael Riccardi while Sharpton was preparing to lead a protest through Bensonhurst in Brooklyn, New York. The intoxicated attacker was apprehended by Sharpton’s aides and handed over to police, who were present for the planned protest.

In 1992, Riccardi was convicted of first-degree assault. Sharpton asked the judge for leniency when sentencing Riccardi.[110] The judge sentenced Riccardi to five to 15 years in jail,[111] and he served ten years in prison[110] being released on parole on January 8, 2001.

Sharpton, although forgiving his attacker and pleading for leniency on his behalf, filed suit against New York City alleging that the many police present had failed to protect him from his attacker. In December 2003, he finally reached a $200,000 settlement with the city just as jury selection was about to start.[110]
