With the ventless cans, it’s an easy fix to tilt the spout into the tank, start the gas flowing, then punch a hole in the bottom of the can with your knife. It will empty quickly, saving you enough time to search for a vintage yard sale can.

You know, given the true economic value of the ventless cans (approximately zero), eventually one might be able to buy them in bulk and use them in exactly the way you described.
