I lived in New Jersey and grew up in the South. You can imagine a redneck going to NYC and seeing all of the peep shows and adult shops on 42nd St. There was also a street not far from there that the prostitutes would walk up and down dressed in lingerie type clothes. When we had friends we would always take them on tours to NYC and those areas were always on the tour route :)
It was funny, because we would drive down the streets where the prostitutes were walking and we would tell our friends don't roll down your windows. Some of them were even scared to look. Thanks for the walk down memory lane...
