Maybe when the new more conservative Senators start next year they will be like Cruz, ignoring seniority and just doing the job they were elected to do.

No they are not. You need not look any further than the states to see that there is an enormous difference between Republican state legislatures and Democrat state legilatures. It is the difference between Arizona and California, or Texas and New York.
I agree that the Republican leadership at the federal level has been compromised, but they are not the party.
