They actually reintroduced elk in the area years ago which has been a huge success. Have been there during rut and they are pretty darn awesome. They are protected so not the least bit afraid of humans.

There are parts of my county where the elk are so numerous they cause a huge number of automobile accidents. To the point the locals have went to the county government and game warden seeking special hunting outside of season. I have not seen any around my place, but have found their tracks.
