WASHINGTON (AP) -- Budget cuts at the IRS could delay tax refunds, reduce taxpayer services and hurt enforcement efforts, IRS Commissioner John Koskinen said Thursday.
About half the people who call the IRS for assistance this filing season won't be able to get through to a person, Koskinen said. Once tax returns are filed, there will be fewer agents to audit them.
"Everybody's return will get processed," Koskinen told reporters. "But people have gotten very used to being able to file their return and quickly getting a refund. This year we may not have the resources, the people to provide refunds as quickly as we have in the past."
In recent years, the IRS says it was able to issue most tax refunds within 21 days, if the returns were filed electronically. Koskinen wouldn't estimate how long they might be delayed in the upcoming filing season, which is just a few weeks away.
Congress cut the IRS budget by $346 million for the budget year that ends in September 2015. The $10.9 billion budget is $1.2 billion less than the agency received in 2010.

FUIRS
How about if this degenerate lying MF got hung from a lamp post, would it speed up the refunds or slow them down?
One thing is certain, the apparatchiks will still be getting their raises and bonuses!
People better get used to no refunds at all. If they don’t buy insurance there will be no refunds.
Well I guess they’ll have to work through lunch and take fewer breaks to get the work done. And no surfing for porn.
The salaried can work weekends and after hours for free like we used to do in the private sector.
Once tax returns are filed, there will be fewer agents to audit them.

So what’s the problem with that?
An IRS shutdown? So, what’s the problem? I’m sure our returns won’t vanish into thin air like their e-mails do.
This is not what our Founding Fathers envisioned.
Forget them. I will wait, but not too long...
Tax tyranny is why they rebelled.

Exactly right. The IRS must be brought under control, and while not entirely defunded, seriously diminished.
So the IRS is going to hold tax refunds hostage to get their demand for a bigger piece of the budget. 10 billion is just not enough to send out refunds? It’s an automated system and most get processed completely without an IRS employee doing anything. All they are doing is trying to get people scared that they won’t get their refund as planned. IRS playing politics again.
“This is not what our Founding Fathers envisioned.”
Our Founding Fathers would already be shooting by now.
PUT HIM IN JAIL!
A refund mostly go to people who DON’T pay taxes in the first place,
they get LOTS of money back every year for their kids ect. I doubt very
seriously doubt Obammy will dare to to disappoint these jobless rebel rousers they will definitely be marching in the streets when they don’t get
the check from us working folks!!!!!!!
Damn, we still have an IRS?
Time to crush the irs
Perhaps I’ll file by paper this year just to make it hurt a little more.
Heck, waterboard his donkey, 'til it drowns...
You'd think with all the happenings at the IRS, from sending hundreds of millions to illegals to waste/fraud, from intimidation of citizens for political motivations to outright perjury in congressional investigations, destruction of evidence and obstruction of justice we'd have on congresses main agenda to restructure the tax code and marginalize the most punitive, anti-American agency ever to exist.
Holding my breath.
“Once tax returns are filed, there will be fewer agents to audit them.”
That’s a good thing!
