“...student body has shrunk...four-year graduation rate is...” very low. Many “...students never receive a degree, and student loan defaults are very high.”

Sounds like our HBCU university here in Kentucky: Kentucky State University. KSU was founded in 1886 when segregation existed. Like Cheyney, KSU is a state-funded school that finds itself in serious financial difficulty. I agree with you that HBCUs no longer have a reason to exist in today’s world. The state of Kentucky’s economic condition could be improved dramatically by shutting the school down. But it won’t because of racial politics. The taxpayers will continue to be forced to throw money down a black hole. No pun intended. There are many more reasons why KSU should be shuttered but I won’t go into them. Suffice it to say that the local community of Frankfort, Kentucky’s capital, would experience immediate social benefits from KSU’s demise.
Harvard? It is doing quite well producing some of the most destructive leaders our nation has ever had.
I suspect a lot of these blacks-only colleges (how’s THAT for “White Privilege”?) exist not to educate their chosen students but to enforce a lot of dysfunctional stereotypes and shopworn cliches. They’re breeding grounds for the next generation of social radicals, not institutions of learning. So they select their students from the ranks of the angry, the disenfranchised, the marginal. And then they wonder that that community doesn’t learn, doesn’t work, and doesn’t pay its bills.
Maybe if they qualified their students on the basis of merit instead of the color of their skin ...
Black Colleges?!?!?!
Segregation for me, but not for thee.
My son attends a small, private 4 year engineering school. It’s very affordable, (within $1000 a year of the state school) with small class sizes 12:1 ratio and very highly regarded in its specialties. Mostly cybersecurity and astronautical engineering.
You can’t fix stupid.
Open up Obama’s stash and the school will be just fine financially. Play the race card too and guilt ridden white libs who would never venture within 100 miles of that school will write a check.
Merit, fits perfectly. lack of.
State vehicle with a union Kerry/Edwards sign in window, and registration confirming ownership on front seat....Cheney University. AFSCME is American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
