Would you please link to the article that you are using?

All you did was show a twitter sentence dated the 15th.

Para Ordnance P14

I only carry sometimes, though. I’m a school teacher, and my school doesn’t like it and I generally respect their wishes.

I can’t magically link to a TV news report from four days ago.

If a statement from the BBC Security Correspondent isn’t good enough for you, that’s your business.

I have managed to download the BBC News at 10 from 15th December, which is the program I am referring to, from a torrent site. If you want I will try and work out how to upload the clips from that that refer to “police and troops” (not just police) and “commandos” being involved in the raid. This will take some work on my part because I’m going to have to figure out how to clip out the relevant part and then see if I can upload it somewhere without it being blocked for copyright reasons. I’m willing to do that if you are willing to look at the thing with an open mind and see what it actually say - otherwise I’m just wasting more of my time.

As for my other sources, I can’t link personal conversations and unless you’re ex- or serving ADF, you almost certainly won’t have access to the other place I’m discussing this online and frankly I wouldn’t want to invite you to that forum.

Tell me the forum so that I can look at it, my military experience may be useful on it.

How exactly have you managed to get a permit for a .45 caliber category H firearm as a school teacher? it seems like you must certainly fall within a small minority of Australian citizens.

It’s an ADF specific forum, and while occasionally others are invited to join it, I’m not prepared to invite you. I’d be expected to be responsible for your behaviour and I’m not prepared to do that.

Mine is actually a .38 and I got a permit by applying for it, filling out the forms, and sitting an interview.

The difficulty involved is commonly exaggerated by certain people. I wouldn’t call it easy exactly to get a Category H (and I have a Category C as well) but it isn’t really that hard. Getting my heavy vehicle licence was harder.

I’m not asking you to invite me, I just want to look at the forum.

You are afraid to even tell us which forum it is?

Also, do you have more recent sources than the 15th?

The forum is a closed forum, not an open one. You wouldn’t see anything.

Then there is no harm in telling me which one it is.

Also, do you have more recent sources than the 15th?

I don't have time to look at every news broadcast. The 15th is when I heard it so I was able to identify the right broadcast.

I have heard a couple of other references since but for the life of me I could not say which out of all the news broadcasts I've watched they were on. I only remember this one because I remembered it was Frank Gardner specifically.

For all intents and purposes, Australia is a gun free zone and I understand that there are still citizens that own guns there but what I was trying to convey was that it is highly unlikely that an armed citizen will ever be present in a situation like this to intervene-that an attacker can be quite confident that he will have the only firearm in the building when he walks in with his and starts shooting people. A movie theater or a school is considered a gun free zone in America because rules have been put into place which greatly reduce the odds of a law abiding gun carrying citizen being present when a psycho walks in and takes over. It’s a generalization in other words.

That’s not information I’m prepared to share. It’s a closed, private forum for a variety of reasons.

As a generalisation, OK - you’re right, it’s not likely somebody will encounter an armed civilian very often. But the trouble is, a lot of people making statements our gun laws that aren’t particularly accurate is a large part of the reason we have so many problems. Far more people could get a licence - but they don’t because they’ve been convinced it’s so much harder than it is.

I think you are doing something that you have done in the past, lie your tail off to win arguments.

There is no reason to tell us which forum it it is, none.

If it is closed, then it will say that on it’s site.

I’m only supposed to refer people to the forum if I trust them and known them and consider they would add value to the forum - especially if they are not connected to the ADF. That includes telling them where to find it. It’s a private forum and what you would see on the front page would tell you nothing about its content anyway even if it wasn’t considered bad form to send people to it.

I’ve had people try to mess me up on the net before. And that makes me even more cautious.

I haven’t lied once. If I’m winning this argument, it’s because I’m right. But I don’t feel like I’m winning. I feel like I’m beating my head against a brick wall.

I’m going to leave this here, because it’s 8pm and I have things I want to do this evening. I am still willing to try and clip and upload the video from the news broadcast I mentioned if there’s any point. You might also be able to find it online somewhere else. News at Ten, BBC, 15th December 2014.

References to ‘troops’ are 11 seconds into the broadcast. References to ‘troops and police’ are at 1 minute 53 seconds. References to ‘Australian Commandos’ at 2.48. And references to ‘Australian Commandos and police’ at 6.38 (that is the reference specifically from Frank Gardner, and I’ve given you the reference to his tweet where he says who they were.)
