It’s about time. I am certainly no fan of Obama but there are two things I expected him to do and am amazed he hasn’t done. The first was to end the pointless and self-destructive War on Drugs. The second was to end the cruel and pointless embargo on Cuba. This isn’t the 1960’s anymore and the Castros are dying. If we can have normal relations with China, Burma and Vietnam we can certainly have them with Cuba.

I have to agree with you there; the Castros are a dying relic of an earlier time and there’s no point to it.

I’m with you on the pointless and self-destructive War on Drugs. In Washington, DC, the people learned that pot use was 50:50 white and black, while arrests were 90:10, with Hispanics counted as white. This November, they voted 70% to legalize possession of up to 2 ounces of pot and growing up to 6 plants indoors, 3 of which could be mature, but the rest seedlings. Now since DC is still subject to Congressional rule, which includes NOT having the right to spend their own tax money, Congress may cancel the will of the people. If you care about this, you should contact your House and Senate representatives and tell them this is wrong. The fact that 640,000 people in DC have NO vote in Congress is also wrong. Last year when the government shut down, the Mayor ignored the law and kept the DC government open collecting garbage, fixing pot holes, etc.

Couldn’t agree more. Our Cuba policy was an unmitigated failure. We broke communism’s back in Russia by engaging them, but got stuck in some stupid prideful foolishness that wouldn’t let us use the same winning strategy with Cuba.

Can’t tell you how angry I am that Obama was the one who finally had yeah stones to do this.
