And you won’t be able to leave with their national treasures.
As in all such deals with commie ratholes, this deal will flow one way.
Say hello to a Soviet base on Cuba.
Say hello at the same time to us giving Cuba money to keep them afloat...replacing the neo-Soviet Union who is now in free fall and can’t afford to prop up commie regimes.
Well, a “Eurasian Union” base on Cuba for sure, but that’s the same as Soviet.
The fact is that Fidel, not Raul, is the icon.
For now, yes. But icons come and go. Jong-un is not Il-sung, but he’s appropriated his political stature.
Raul is never going to be an icon like his brother.
I’d like that to be true, but one can never tell. With the power of the god of this world behind such people, anything could happen.
If you really want to go, you can, through an alternate route.
The reason is because Cuba is run by a murderous, communist regime that officially supports Marxists terrorists (you know, the same ones that Slick Willie pardoned on his way out).
The embargo was for two reasons:
1. To remain distant from those nations that run oppressive regimes until they allow some form of democracy so that their citizens have some say in their government.
2. To starve them of funds so that they are forced to allow their citizens some say in their government.
OK, it has only worked marginally. But in the past few years, the Cuban government has become just about bankrupt. Obammie the Commie is doing this for one reason: to prop up a communist regime that is about to collapse.
Do you really think this will benefit the people of Cuba?
Do you really think the people of Cuba will see dime one of any revenue the government receives through trade or direct handouts?
But you want to go there. No problem. Many do. Can I ask you one question? Why isn’t Obammie the Commie demanding any sort of reform, even a quisling little half-way “made-for-headlines” promise of change that would really mean nothing and could easily be ignored?
I’ll tell you why.
The same reason that Obammie the Commie said (during the debates) he would be willing to negotiate with Iran without preconditions being met: his goal is to prop up third-world despotic regimes and to elevate them in the world’s eyes by inviting them to the international table.
Why?
Because he hates America. Because he wants to drag America and all of our traditions and ideals through the mud. And one of the best ways that leftists have found to do this is through moral relativism.
Who are we to say that throwing people in jail because they wrote a critical poem, or because they are homosexual, or because they brought the wrong book into their library are any worse than we are? We are no better, ergo, they are our equals and we must invite them in.
You mean like in North Korea?
You mean like in half a dozen nations in Africa?
You mean like the Russian people during nearly a century under communist rule?
The Cuban people will be oppressed ten times harder to ensure they get no such light of day.
Well I just heard that Chris Matthews is having a fit over this too. So perhaps you and Chris can bitch about it together.
I agree completely, which is why Obammie the Commie is propping them up economically. He doesn’t want a country of people who hate communism to throw off that yoke of tyranny and find freedom.
Castro led the revolution and ruled the country for half a century. His brother is just a bland stand-in who will be dead in a few years. I’m not sure I even know what Raul looks like. There is no comparison.
Sorry, but you left out an even better option.
Keep the embargo in place.
Shine the international light on the cockroaches that tyrannize Cuba (you know, like Obammie the Commie has done in other countries for his own political reasons).
And assist the people in throwing off the yoke of tyranny and finding their true freedom.
This is nothing more than the Communist in Chief propping up a failed communist regime that is about to collapse...which he does not want to happen because he wants communism to drag on in that country.
Either way, one must hope that there isn’t a worse replacement waiting in the wings.
should have at least waited for Fidel to kick the bucket.
Obama couldn’t miss out on Fidel’s praise, could he?
I think you hit the nail on the head.
Obama is upset by the South voting solid Republican. When he gets that upset, he doesn’t want to win, he wants to kill his enemies.
He’s setting up a situation to bring in Iranian nukes with N Korean missiles into Cuba to threaten the southern US.
“He has a right to talk with Cuba and have foreign policy discussions. Good God Reagan did with Russia.”
Congress passed legislation setting for the conditions which had to be met for diplomatic relations to be restored. Obama has now broken that law and usurped the power of U.S. Citizens and their elected legislators to determine when and how diplomatic relations are to be restored between the United States and Cuba. That is an impeachable offense against the Constitution and the people who protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, even when thos enemies are present in the White House, the Congress, and the Federal courts.
So, no, Obama does not have the right to usurp our rights, make himself a dictator, and pretend to negotiate like Reagan when he is doing no such thing.
Jimmy Claussen to start at QB for CHI.
Egads...
I have to agree with you there; the Castros are a dying relic of an earlier time and there’s no point to it.
