Connie Rzemien, whose daughter, Katie, was among those graduating, told The Detroit News . . . “I believe it is contradictory to what they are doing here to have somebody with such an insensitive view of rape to speak today.”

Rape exists—and merits the death penalty, in my opinion. But it's statistically rarer on U.S. college campuses than almost anywhere else on earth.

That's not to say that what goes on at these campuses is good. There's something very bad going on. In their weird, insincere way, these gals are onto it, but don't know how to talk about it, and don't want to face up to their own part in it. Do you get the feeling that they wouldn't be talking so strangely if they had resolved what it means to exercise personal virtue?
