The details are still sketchy, but this is what is apparently confirmed as of this writing (8PM EST Sunday night): as many as 50 people have been taken hostage in the Lindt Chocolat Café in Sydney, Australias central pedestrian mall, Martin Place. Some of the hostages have been forced at gunpoint to hold up the black flag of Islamic jihad against a window of the café.

Ask them nicely to please stop it. We don’t want to get accused of torture.

Well that didn’t take long.
Guess they didn’t want anyone figuring out that this is clearly an islamic thing.
Islamderthals are going all out to play the victim this morning.

Their PM just gave the wimpiest speech imaginable. Pretty soon he’ll be assuring us that islam is the religion of peace.

Lindt is my favorite chocolate but if Lindt caves to the Islamists and go Halal, I've bought my last piece from them.

I believe this will help the Australian people tell these animal followers of the so called 'Religion of Peace' (more likely Cult of hate and terror) to get the hell out of Australia.
Australians are laid back, but when they get mad... they tell people off...

Lindt Cafe is a franchise from what I heard...not owned by Lindt. Also Lindt Chocolate USA is only half owned by Lindt.

My daughter lives in Coogee and works at a school in Bondi nearby. This is what she wrote me:
"As of now 5 people have escaped. It has been going on for about 8+ hours now. 3 men escaped a few hours ago and then recently 2 woman. There are still about 40 hostages still stuck with the man who has taken them all under siege in the chocolate shop/ cafe Lindt in the CBD. It's about a 15 minute drive from both where we live and work. He picked that shop bc it's across from major news broadcasters, near the major train and bus lines, near the shopping and big banking / businesses. The packages that were suspicious at the opera house and art gallery were found to be nothing so at the moment this is the only thing currently happening. He has made the hostages periodically through the day hold up propaganda in the window. We are safe here ATM in Coogee. Traffic is quite light on the roads and there aren't that many buses about."

The ironic thing is that this type of chocolate, Lindt, I buy the small bag of white chocolate for my “season citizen” mother for her birthday, Christmas, and Mother’s Day.
