Putin has become shockingly effective at influencing European politics through a host of far-right parties.
The following chart from the Center for Eurasian Strategic Intelligence (CESI) shows Russia's growing influence within six different European Union countries.
The parties, located in the UK, France, Germany, Greece, Bulgaria, and Hungary, are increasingly popularand staunchly against giving more power to the EU. Each of the parties has also fostered a closer relationship with Russia, and has protested against sanctions on Moscow following its annexation of Ukraine.

"The rise in European far-right parties is largely tied to Russian policies first developed during the Cold War. These policies, called "special war," attempt to conduct foreign policy through a combination of espionage and dark money rather than traditional warfare. Russia expert John Schindler explains that while the Soviet Union backed communist-leaning parties to influence politics, Russia is now financing far-right parties in an attempt to steer European politics."
The Russians figure they can buy support in Europe where sanctions against Russia are hugely unpopular.
And few Europeans like the EUSSR.
Putin was quite popular around here not too long ago.
It's obvious that only sane persons believe in unlimited illegal immigration, higher energy prices, and unsustainable government spending.
The US is leaving a void which will be filled in.
“where sanctions against Russia are hugely unpopular.”
Yes, according to RT’s “reports” :))
Europe doesn’t stand for anything. So they can easily be controlled by whomever exhibits a stronger hand.
They are just the the sad shadow of a people that only occupies the great cities created by their superior ancestors.
I don’t believe for one second that Putin is behind the Tea Party. If you think so, fine. Just say what that is based on.
Really, who is against those sanctions besides former German Chancellor and socialist Gerhard Schröder, who got in bed with Putin’s oil company?
I know. It was embarrassing. I assumed they mostly let their anger at Obama cause them to turn a blind eye to Putin’s crimes.
Exactly. Always remember Obambi's apology tour when he even bowed to foreign leaders.
I agree it’s Obama’s fault for not protecting our nation and leading from the front. I find it interesting that some seem to think Putin is an okay alternative.
What-the-frig?
There were people here who were attracted to Putin as a strong leader. The Republican leadership was regularly being fed it’s lunch by Democrats, Reid, Obama and others. I think that by now, most everyone sees Putin for the fascist he is. Strong leaders make a lot of demands on their followers.
“Russia expert John Schindler explains that while the Soviet Union backed communist-leaning parties to influence politics, Russia is now financing far-right parties in an attempt to steer European politics.”
The embedded link in this sentence takes you to a Business Insider column by Mr. Schindler, who says he's with the “XX Committee.” When you go to that site (http://20committee.com/), you arrive at the home page for the XX Committee, which actually reads like an “About Us” page. Do you see anything questionable about this:
“On My Politics
Some readers have noticed my recent criticism of Democrats and President Barack Obama, particularly relating to national security matters. Some seem quite upset by this, hurling invectives...”
He IS the committee! He is the one quoted as the Russian expert who knows about this secret funding of the UKIP and other small-government, anti-illegal immigration, pro-lower energy price, parties. You are posting unsubstantiated tripe about political parties that our own local liberals say about Tea Party supporters.
People like you are easily misled, it appears. You didn't even read through my original post properly, and I only had two sentences. You missed this, by the way:
“It's obvious that only sane persons believe in unlimited illegal immigration, higher energy prices, and unsustainable government spending.”
Are you missing that now, a second time?
He seriously UPGRADED HIS MILITARY, he will get respect.
We GUTTED ours...we are being treated appropriately.
RT is TASS under new management & just as credible. /s
Even in Soviet days there was what was known as “White TASS”, a just-the-facts summary of world news available only to senior editors of Pravda & Izvestiya to be molded into the standard Party line view of events.
RT is more like Der Stuermer, IMO.
“Putin was quite popular around here not too long ago.”
He was. His social policies are the ENVY of conservatives around the world (i.e., kids should be free to grow-up without recruitment from gay organizations, among others).
But then Obama declared him to be our enemy, and we FReepers got in line behind him.
“But then Obama declared him to be our enemy, and we FReepers got in line behind him.”
Amazing, isn’t it?
After all of these years, after all of the proven Obama/Democrat lies and Grubering, we are suddenly supposed to believe that Obama is only acting in America’s best interests, on this one issue, and this issue ALONE, because a handful of trollish ID’s say so?
Putin is no saint, but he is acting in the best interests of HIS people, while Obama obviously does not.
(Unless you think the Libyan War for France’s Oil and the Muzzie Bro’hood was “in America’s interests, of course)
