You can’t play Sweet Home Alabama in America anymore? When did they outlaw that? Was it the frickin’ Kenyan lowlife who did it?

Are they going to punish every radio station that plays the song? Since when has it become offensive? (aside from the fact that its not a terribly good song IMHO, but who can account for taste).

Way too much touchy feely B.S. going on here.
You can bet your bottom dollar if situation was reversed, where a black cop loudly plays rap lyrics that scream about harming whites or women, that neighborhood would have been told to ‘embrace diversity’.

the band made a video of the song or it was a recorded performance for a tv show; I don’t know.

They often used an all black church choir to sing back vocals and they did so on that song.

In the video, behind the band and the choir was their signature Stars and Bars.

The liberal obsession with symbolism drives me absolutely batty.

Now for the theme song:

"Sweet Home Alabama"

Big wheels keep on turning
Carry me home to see my kin
Singing songs about the Southland
I miss Alabamy once again
And I think its a sin, yes

Well I heard mister Young sing about her
Well, I heard ole Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around anyhow

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you

In Birmingham they love the gov' nor (boo, boo, boo)
Now we all did what we could do
Now Watergate does not bother me
Does your conscience bother you?
Tell the truth

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you
Here I come Alabama

Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers
And they've been known to pick a song or two
Lord they get me off so much
They pick me up when I'm feeling blue
Now how about you?

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you

Sweet home Alabama
Oh sweet home baby
Where the skies are so blue
And the guv'nor's true
Sweet Home Alabama
Lordy
Lord, I'm coming home to you
Yea, yea Montgomery's got the answer

That's wacist!

May I recommend this entirely non-racial selection for the next protest?

Right idea, but wrong music. It’s a Small World will disperse a crowd really fast.

It sounds like someone is afraid that the young skulls full of "protesting" mush will figure out what the following lyrics mean.

In Birmingham, they love the guv'nah (boo boo boo)

Now we all did what we could do

Now Watergate does not bother me

Does your conscience bother you?

Tell the truth

The 1974 Lynyrd Skynyrd song “Sweet Home Alabama” has been co-opted by neo-Confederate groups, said Southern Poverty Law Center senior fellow Mark Potok.

So, now the left wing extremist group known as Southern Poverty Law Center determines what can be played in public.

FASCISTS!

They really don’t get it— Sweet Home Alabama was against Watergate and tongue in cheek against Neil Young’s Southern Man joke of a song. It is not racist— far from it. Lynnrd Skynnrd did a lot of songs about black folks and the blues— for example Curtis Lowe. What octomaroons, and PC pussies.

Next time, play “The Night Chicago Died”. They would probably love that; about100 cops are dead.

Rap music would of been welcomed considering all of the aspiring rappers in the crowd.

My tagline is probably saved in the copy and paste function of most journalists.

Maybe he should have played The Alabama Song by Lotte Lenye & the Three Admirals, from 1930.

And if it were the kind of rap music that advances crimes against LEOs, would the city care?
