ANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Pressuring a woman to have an abortion would be a criminal act under legislation approved Thursday by the Republican-controlled Senate, where backers said coerced abortions are a real problem and detractors countered that they already are illegal.
The legislation would prohibit threatening, stalking or assaulting a pregnant woman or anyone else with the intent to force an abortion against her wishes. After learning a woman does not want to terminate her pregnancy, a person also could not threaten to cut off legally required financial support or withdraw from a contract.
The bills, approved 26-11 almost entirely along party lines, were sent to the GOP-controlled House for consideration in the waning days of the legislative session.

That’s fantastic news!
I’m keeping on this one. I pray it becomes law.
“Our schizophrenic legislature....”
A broken clock is correct twice a day.
Yeah I’m not going to beat them up for doing the right thing.
I do, too.
I believe what is he next step would be to fight for “truth in advertising” laws regarding disclosure ,,, exactly what we do with real estate agents ... any “counselor” must disclose who they work for and under what outcomes they get paid and by whom and include a warning to get unbiased counsel...
A clinic counselor must disclose that they don’t get paid and are indeed financially harmed if they do not get you on the table.
Independent counselors that are paid a flat fee regardless of the decision made instead of paid salespeople should be our next universal goal along with actual real disclosure in the informed consent process and at least some sort of waiting period.
I think that is “do-able” in todays America...
