John Boehner predicted Tuesday that very few Republican lawmakers would vote against him when he seeks a third term as Speaker of the House.
In an interview with USA Today, the Ohio Republican pushed back against a report in The Hill that pockets of Tea Party conservatives are plotting to oust the Speaker when the 114th Congress meets in January to elect its House leaders in a public vote.
Boehner also dismissed suggestions that his leadership team would strip committee assignments from GOP lawmakers who vote against him.
"I just don't think it's necessary," Boehner said of possible retribution.
A handful of likely incoming GOP House freshmen have already said on the campaign trail they wouldnt be backing Boehner as Speaker, however.
And some incumbent Republicans who are cruising to reelection, including Reps. Walter Jones (R-N.C.), Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) and Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), have stated publicly that Boehner needs to go.
Times up, Gosar told The Hill in a recent interview. Im tired of the status quo of whats going on in Washington, D.C. Americas tired, Americas angry and theyre scared, because they dont have leaders in Washington, D.C.
In his interview with USA Today, Boehner praised Jeb Bush and said hes got a real shot at winning the 2016 presidential race because of his strong record as former Florida governor.
"He has a record of serious, big reforms," Boehner said.

It’s long past time for some real Conservative leadership in the house. The present Speaker must go.
Boehner and his partner, Nancy Pelosi, are pushing through the Democrat budget today. CALL your Congress critter TODAY!
He seems very sure of himself....Does he know something we don’t??
Republicans or Democrats. It’s nearly all the same.
He is making the case for Conservatives to support the Democrat running in certain key leadership districts.
In January we need 26 brave republican reps to vote nay on Boehner.
By the way, you and I are still batting 1,000 : )
Which makes us evil I guess. Because God knows how often were were told how ‘wrong’ we were and how we needed to STFU, and had pictures of Yosemite Sam on Dragons posted as examples of our position and how we loved Obama and how we should reveal our DU screen names.
Or maybe the fact that we were totally accurate to levels Miss Cleo would envy means that our detractors were ‘projecting” their own liberalism. Because that what all those people doing that were. And are. Liberals into reality denial. the facts and the actions of the GOP, that they pushed mercilessly for, prove that.
So are all his defenders that demanded his reelection. Mitch as well. Bhoner is what he is. A liberal. Once we accept that, we can collectively fight it. But as long as his sycophants run wild, that cannot by definition, happen.
I despise Boehner almost as much as obama.McConnell has earned the same status.
Bhoner and Mitch are worse because Barry, evil as he is, IS what he is openly. He never promised to be our friend. He sticks the knife in our face and in the face of the country.
Those two are backstabbing liars that have done nothing but lie to our face, promise the world on monday and stab us in the back on tuesday. On Wednesday they blame us for the bloody mess and on Thursday send us the cleaning bill.
They are worse. Even Hamilton said it.
” Which makes us evil I guess. Because God knows how often were were told how wrong we were and how we needed to STFU, and had pictures of Yosemite Sam on Dragons posted as examples of our position and how we loved Obama and how we should reveal our DU screen names.”
LOL. The sad thing is, any IDIOT can go to any number of websites, and look up who gave the most money to a given politician. Let me save some of the IDIOTS some time.
If you are a Republican candidate, and most of your money comes from
1) big business
2) banks
3) Chamber of Commerce
You can deduce this much......
A) They will NOT stop Obamacare.
2) They will PUSH amnesty.
WHAT MANY FREEPERS DON’T UNDERSTAND, IS THAT IF AMNESTY IS ALLOWED, IT WON’T MAKE A DAMN BIT OF DIFFERENCE WHO RUNS IN 2016.
None of that matters. They FEEL good about their GOP vote because they TRIED to do something. And they will FEEL good about doing it again in 16 because they are as liberal as a DU poster.
A conservative would have done the research and voted for a conservative. They freely chose to cast their lot for a liberal with an R attached that they KNEW promised them amnesty upon victory. The responsibility for Americas death is ALL on them.
” They freely chose to cast their lot for a liberal with an R attached that they KNEW promised them amnesty upon victory. The responsibility for Americas death is ALL on them.”
Correct, Norm. Let them flame away.
Like Matt said right here..”THE FIX IS IN”
Actions have consequences. We tried to make them see what was going to happen. They told us to FOAD, called us every name in the book and knew better. Now it’s not a liberal Democrat bringing Amnesty. It’s the people they knowingly voted for. They have no excuses and all the blame.
They could have aborted this with two losses. Bhoner and Mitch. Nope. They had to have them.
All on them. all of it. Every death by amnestyed illegal, every job and home lost, every disease the illegals bring. All the crime...ALL OF IT.
He’s right about a lot of things. His books should be considered prophecy.
” They could have aborted this with two losses. Bhoner and Mitch. Nope. They had to have them.
All on them. all of it. Every death by amnestyed illegal, every job and home lost, every disease the illegals bring. All the crime...ALL OF IT.”
One sad thing is the “I told you so” won’t stop our country from financial ruin.
