I agree with a short CR now, except that the Republicans are not now in charge of the Senate. I think the funding runs out Dec 16??? Something like that. That would mean about a month or two of living off of shuffled and reshuffled funds, which I believe in past debt cliff negotiations has proven to be possible.

It will be presented as “Shut down the government”, and the Rinos WILL NOT go for it. They just won’t. Even though Cruz proved that ‘shutting down the government’ has no impact, the Rinos use that as a reason for not advancing.

So, I’d prefer a short CR, but we’re not going to get it.

Will Boehner ignore the Hastert rule and allow rinos and democrats to combine their strength to pass the bill IF he has to?

I’m pretty sure he will. He’ll come back to a new congress, and loyalty pledges were required for election support. Sadly, we’ll have Boehner again. No one will support anyone who challenges him.

If they knew their vote for Boehner was what would cost them their own job they would run him over in a second

“I’d prefer a short CR, but we’re not going to get it.”

Actually we ARE going to get a short CR!
Funding runs out the 11th.
The ‘Cromnibus’ is running late so they’ll pass one for one or two days while they cram the ‘cromnibus’ through.

So, of course, they could pass one for three weeks until the new congress comes.
Sure Reid or Obama could refuse but I don’t see how Reid or Obama ‘win’ by shutting down the government over a ‘clean’ short CR.

We do have enough votes to block Boehner from getting the Speakership in January with Republican votes.
I assume the Dems would make up for those votes... a bipartisan Speaker????
Or would the rest of our caucus finally revolt against him if he turned to the Dems to elect him Speaker... I think so.
