“Michael Schaus ... talk radio host ... Associate Editor ... executive producer ... writer, artist, and political humorist. Having worked in a wide range of industries (including construction, journalism, and financial services) his perspectives and world views are forged with a deep understanding of what it means to be an American conservative.”
I read that puffery at the website too. “journalism” and “financial services” are not industries.
The latter barely qualifies as a sector of the economy.
The former is a catch-all for people who haven’t the ability nor firmness of character to do something more useful.
“Construction” might qualify in the strictest sense, but I submit that working in that sector may not qualify the author to make sense of the gun industry - which predates every other industrial activity in this nation.
If an author “... with a deep understanding of what it means to be an American conservative” can bungle so thoroughly - and forum members can defend his blunders (in preference to actually learning something) - perhaps the lot of us ought to rethink the utility of conservatism.
