the overlying issue is energy independence for the US (or the lack of it).
The environmental angle is simply a weapon to allow them to do that.

Chicken farmers could likely raise millions of these birds. Birds and Polar bears are "controlling factors" for the enviro whackos. Bald eagles and polar bears are overabundant now.
