To: blam

I’m curious... There was a time when, if an American were being held hostage, it was an actual news story covered widely and there was usually an effort by the President and the US military to extricate the hostage.

My questions... How many American’s are currently being held hostage? And why is there no coverage of their circumstances? The only time we hear of these people is when their heads are lobbed off on some nasty propaganda tape. Prior to that we don’t even know they exist.

I believe the 'hostage-taking-era' began when the Iranians took the US embassy staff hostage in 1979 and jimmie carter let them get away with it.

The Iranians released the hostages the day Ronald Reagan was sworn in as president.
