I don’t generally have a lot of use for Unions, especially in the public sector, but advocating for basic worker safety can be a legitimate function.

I agree, generally, with you; however, these are government workers who have the power to ruin families and lives.

Of course, but proposing to reduce their powers or the scope thereof is a different question from whether they should be safe at work.
