Obamacare Q&A: It’s not easy to check out of Hotel Covered California
Fresno Bee ^ | December 2, 2014 | BY EMILY BAZAR

In my previous column, I explained that you become ineligible for Covered California’s tax credits when you turn 65 and enroll in Medicare. You will owe money to the government if you keep getting the credits after your Medicare begins.

So I tried to offer a simple solution: Cancel your Covered California plan.

Unfortunately, in the past two weeks, I have heard from Californians and insurance agents across the state who have tried mightily — and failed — to cancel their plans. Instead, the premium bills just keep coming.

A Covered California phone rep told him that the cancellation challenges stem from a “programming problem” with the agency’s troubled $454-million computer system and added that “this is a significant problem” affecting many consumers, he says.

Maybe not, but you’ll save $2500 per year on your room, and if you like your room you can keep your room.

The answer is just stop paying 4 months before you turn 65, they will cancel you automatically.

liberals push big government by denigrating private business - Obamacare is destroying a lot the “progress” they’ve made by showing people that government substitutes for businesses are worse - way worse.

“The answer is just stop paying 4 months before you turn 65, they will cancel you automatically.”

A friend who Obama graciously allowed to continue her plan for one more year attempted to cancel the policy she’d just signed up for. It wasn’t possible to cancel. So, she called her bank and told them not to pay. The clerk told her that they could not guarantee that the bank would ignore the draft. She had to cancel her account and open a different one in another bank.

I suggested to relatives that they open an account at a totally separate bank in a very convenient location just for such electronic payments. The account is free since they are seniors. Just enough to cover the healthcare/drug plan bills is deposited each month. That way, without messing up their primary checking/savings accounts, they can control the payment of those bills if they decide to cancel by not funding or closing that specific account. So far, so good.

What a beautiful example of dealing with the world as it actually is, not the way we see it or the way manipulators, the ignorant and others order us to see it...

The unholy alliance created when insurance companies became lenders and partners in the banking industry created this mess. Crony pitalism 101. Pretty soon this alliance will be able to exert IRS like power over your bank account. For no reason, other than this, they created this law with the IRS as the enforcement. They will come for your money, take it off your children’s table and feed their brown shirts. Everyone but the working class knows, the working class has become slaves to everyone else. We subsidize fraud and abuse, enable congress to write their own marsket laws, and many other abuses. The working class does not participate in enough numbers electorally to make a difference. /rant.
