Charles Barkley: Rioters are 'scumbags'

Charles Barkley isn’t afraid to speak truth to power.  The man has integrity – a rare commodity these days.

Case in point: with regard to Ferguson, Barkley has been unafraid to call rioters and looters “scumbags.”  Nor has he been stingy with praise for police who work in black neighborhoods.

Former NBA star Charles Barkley recently called Ferguson looters "scumbags," praised police officers who work in black neighborhoods, and said he supports the decision made by the grand jury not to indict officer Darren Wilson in the Michael Brown shooting.

During an interview on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia on Tuesday, the day after the Ferguson decision was announced, host Mike Missanelli asked Barkley about it and why "black America" doesn't trust the ruling.

His response surprised some listeners.

"The true story came out from the grand jury testimony," Barkley said, adding that he was made aware of "key forensic evidence, and several black witnesses that supported Officer Darren Wilson’s story..." He continued, "I can’t believe anything I hear on television anymore. And, that’s why I don’t like talking about race issues with the media anymore, because they (the media) love this stuff, and lead people to jump to conclusions. The media shouldn’t do that. They never do that when black people kill each other. "

He’s right. I don’t always agree with everything Barkley goes for but its good to see him speaking out as have several other prominent blacks. There is nothing to be gained by lionizing thugs and doing so just makes the problem worse because it externalizes what is clearly an internal problem in many of these poor black communities.

Charles Barkley gets it...and he is willing to speak out about it.

God bless him for doing so.

He understands that what has to change is the facts associated with how people like Michael Brown grow up to be thugs and criminals. Most of it is due to the welfare state and the progressive liberal agenda that has created an environment that is fertile for producing such individuals.

The liberal progressives wrest the truth in order to avoid these facts, and they are supported by a progressive liberal media in doing so.

They willfully ignore the facts and then blatantly pervert the truth into their false narratives in order to advance their ideological goals.

What HAppened in Ferguson, MO...and Why

I do not care what color a person is, what their religion is, what their culture is, etc. when these set of facts come together, the outcome is not only predicatable, it is just:

• A big, strong, (6'4" almost 300 pound) 18 year old man robs a convienence store. (Robbery)
• When confronted by the clerk, on his way out with the stolen material, the big, strong 18 year-old man grabs the clerk by the throat and shoves him away. (Strong-arm Robbery)
• After robbing the store, the bigh strong 18 year old man walks with his accomplisce right down the middle of the public street. (Jaywalking)
• When a Police office sees the two men walking in the middle of the street, he drives up to them and asks them to get out of the middle of the street.
• The big strong 18 year old man profanes the police officer and refuses to stop walking in the middile of the street. (Failure to follow instructions of a Law Enforcement Officer)
• The police officer watches them continue, and then hears about the robbery and sees that the two individuals match the description of the robbers.
• The Police officer now approaches the two with his car, pulls up next to them and indicates he needs to talk to them and tries to open his door.
• The big strong 18 year old uses his body mass to block the door and not let the officer out (Obstruction).
• The Police Officer and the big strong 18 yer old exchange words and a struggle insues with the officer inside his car and the big strong 18 year old outside, leaning in through the window. (Assault)
• The big strong 18 year old attempts to wrestle the officer's gun away from him, striking the officer in the face as he does so (Battery)
• The officer, in trying to maintain control of the weapopn, ultimately pulls the trigger, discharging the gun once inside the car.
• The big strong 18 year old is struck in the hand and then turns and leaves.
• The police officer, exits the car and follows the two robbers, telling them to stop and drawing his weapon.
• The big sytrong 18 year old turns and again profanse the police officer, refusing to follow his instructions, and then, bum charges the police officer. (Assault)
• The police officer, who had alread witnessed the strength and ill intent of the big strong 18 year old, decides his assailant will do him gross bodily harm if he reaches the officer, so he opens fire on his attacker.
• The big srong 18 year old is struck several times, the last shot within 10-12 feet of the officer, striking him the head and killing him.

This is what ocvcurred that day. it is cooberated by seven eye witnesses and the Police Officer's report. MOst of the woitnesses are African-American themselves.

The big strong Micael Borwn committred multiple crimes and was willing to assault and injure the officer in order to not get caught and apprehended. In the end, he was going to attack and seriously injure or kill that officer.

Michael Brwon was acriminal thug who reaped the direct consequences of his own actions. Plain and simple, and it does not matter what color he was.

The officeer acted approriately...even herocilally IMHO...and the grand jury, once they saw the evidence, amde the onluy rational and just decision they could...NO BILL...no charges.

Activists, Race baiters, progressive liberals want to turn this into a race issue...but it was not and is n9ot. Those people inciting these riots, IMHO< including the US Attorney General and thee Rpersident, should themselves be charged with the looting, arson, assault, and murders that have occurred as a result of that inciting.

For quite a few years ‘we’ have been saying if there are ‘any decent’ Muslims, they would do what us ‘Whites’ did in regards to the KKK. Only when ‘WE’ ‘condemned’ them and they figured they lost any public support - of any amount- people may decide they have had enough and take matters in their own hands.

I have a feeling more ‘Prominent Blacks’ will be getting on the ‘Knock this crap off BS’ as they may sense that ‘Joe Six Pack’ is getting fed up and ‘fools’ are liable to just start taking pot shots at any Black they may see AND, since we greatly ‘outnumber’ them, the few hardy fools (idiots) that have been pushing for an all out confrontation will get their wish...I heard ‘one honest’ interview...an Older Black Guy was ‘with’ the crowd and complaining about treatment overall and made a pretty profound statement.

I agree. Sometimes he says things that make me want to shake his hand, and then he says something else that makes me regret that I wanted to shake his hand!

That said, I give him a lot of credit as someone who watched him battle with Larry Bird way back when...at least he opens his mouth and says things that a black audience needs to hear from a black man.

As another poster stated, when a white person says those things as we do here on FR, we are branded as right-wing lunatic racists for speaking the honest truth.

When he speaks the truth, the left has a hard time branding him as a racist. The black community needs more men like him who will speak out.

You are right. I’ve said for a while that the left which likes to posture concerning conflict would be very sad if they actually got it. This isn’t Cuba or South Vietnam. I hope it never comes to that and I doubt we are in danger of a real racial conflict but there is an ideological and political conflict coming and there is not way to resolve it because it is the left is making it an existential conflict with their attacks on liberty. As is evident with radical muslims you can’t compromise with a leftist that doesn’t accept your right to exist, your right to what you earn and own, and your right to disagree with them and live a life different and apart from them.
