The Guardian wrote a number of lame excuses against a survey with a very large sample and made claims about “the actual list as it stands.” Follow the link. From the list as printed by The Guardian (”in England and Wales during 2013” does not include Scotland),...
“MUHAMMAD 3,499
MOHAMMED 2,887
MOHAMMAD 1,059”
Total Arabs/Africans named Mohammed, 7,445.
There’s also “IBRAHIM 677.”
That’s a total of 7,445 for the Mohammeds alone, far more than the name that the Guardian placed at number 1 (”OLIVER 6,949”). On top of that, there are probably quite a few U.K. Muslims named “Ollie.”
And remember that Scotland was not included in “the list.”
You can do this with any name. Renders this whole hysteria a nonsense. The day any actual variant becomes no 1 on its own, then I will worry.
