Odd that they left 15 years before the war started then, especially given that the draft never applied in Ireland, yes that’s right every Irishman who fought for the British since the Act of Union, and there were hundreds of thousands of them, were all volunteers who freely signed up to serve Her/His Britannic Majesty.
The British had to conscript English, Scottish and Welsh soldiers but the Irish were all volunteers, funny that isn’t it?
