Heart of Darkness is a great novel, and one of my favorites . . . and it didn’t make me hate whitey.

It's actually a great novel that inspired a great film.
I doubt O will ever read it... that would cut into his Sportscenter time. It's most likely just a shelf decoration.

I didn’t read it, but the description speaks about the horrors of white supremacy in colonial Africa? Sounds like something someone would read to bolster their prejudices, but like I said, I never read it and the reviews make it sound really bad. However, to each his own, a few people in the reviews loved it. I know I read stuff to bolster my prejudices (like FreeRepub), so figured O would too.

They were conquerors, and for that you want only brute force--nothing to boast of, when you have it, since your strength is just an accident arising from the weakness of others. ― Joseph Conrad, Heart of Darkness

Really? Does anyone think Obama has the mental capacity to read Conrad?

Heart of Darkness is about the horrors and stupidity of colonial powers, especially the Belgian king, but is an allegory about how everyone is just one step away from doing evil and how to avoid that fall off the cliff by recognizing where the edge is. A very good book, and partially based on Conad’s own work in the Congo.
