Do not accept the Ferguson police officers retirement. Just keep talking about his phantasmagorical fear of the black body or else.
It would be easy enough to call Darren Wilson a liar, as so many pundits have done, after reading the now-former Ferguson police officers testimony in the case of the killing of the 18-year-old Michael Brown. We could imagine this paragon of whiteness, soft-spoken and soft around the middle, as a rational actor, spending months after the shooting to carefully prepare for his grand-jury testimony, to repeat his performance in front of George Stephanopoulos for a television interview. Calling him a liar establishes his sanity.
It could be easier still to forget Darren Wilson, now that he has ostensibly retired for obvious reasons, he says, gesturing to security risks that he cannot allow. Representing his retreat from police work as noble self-sacrifice, Wilson refuses to be defined as racist, despite his central role in a killing that is difficult to understand without race. These days, we have racism without racists, as the sociologist Eduardo Bonilla-Silva puts it, which means that we have more and more black victims indeed, a veritable wall of names and faces and fewer and fewer convictions of their killers, who are allowed to fade away. Like Darren Wilson, if we forget him.
We need to keep Darren Wilson around for a little bit longer. Because the problem at hand is bigger than one policeman. Darren Wilson, after all, is an instrument. In the moment of the encounter, he did exactly what he was built to do. What we, collectively, have built him to do. This looming representative of our civilization, in which the New Jim Crow is a seemingly permanent fixture, has something to tell us about our world....

I thought England had tougher libel laws that didn’t permit this sort of hackwork in print.
When you’re unable to understand something so simple that even a six year old could understand it, you’re probably retarded.
Good gawd..what did I just read?
Off topic but has anyone seen any public opinion polls on Ferguson and Michael Brown? The media has adopted the liberal view in all their stories and commentary. We are supposed to think it was a racist case of police brutality and all that.
But what does middle America think? So often in the news we see opinion polls on the subject. But I have not seen any polls to reactions to Ferguson.
Was there a single piece of physical evidence revealed that contradicted Wilson’s account in any way whatsoever? If there was, I never saw it reported.
Please someone, anyone, even the author PLEASE post this “veritable wall of black victims” I keep hearing about endlessly.
Did the author escape from a mental asylum or do they give internet privileges to the loons? What a piece of tripe garbage.
Evidence doesn't fit the narrative, so why report on it?
Almost all the black victims on this wall would have been killed by other blacks. Someone posted a report from Baltimore showing, of the last 100 homicides 90% were black on black.
For a running score and broken-out stats on Chicago, there’s heyjackass.com
I try to remember to check it on weekly basis, after the weekend damage is tallied.
Darren Wilson should be put in for “Cop of the Year”. He terminated a genuine piece of s#$%. It is time America start talking about all the black on white crime that is epidemic in our nation, blacks raping white women, murders of white women and defenseless elderly folks.
Somebody pointed out that Salon is in the business of trolling for webpage hits to explain the head-where-sun-don’t-shine articles spewing from them.
The problem is that they lower the bar on stupidity, and lots of other sites feel compelled to do the same.
I voted in one yesterday but do not remember the site. Agreeing with the decision was leading about 79%-whatever. It had 3 choices.
I wonder if Michael Brown had been a big, young, white man, would this even be a story?
If this author finds it all inexplicable without the race factor, he is significantly deficient in real-world experience.
They’re collectively outraged because so many young black men are being killed, but they’re hamstrung by a vapid but dogged refusal to even acknowledge the existence of behavior as a contributing factor; that would be judgmental.
So, we get these lofty, whipped-up soufflé rationalizations, one less-than-tenuous social justice assumption stacked atop the other right up to the sky, full of quasi-intellectual sounding nostrums and peculiar symbols crafted specifically for the occasion. And, off they go. Again and again.
They’re the paranoid conspiracy theorists of academia. They’d be the object of ridicule and rightly so, if it weren’t for pulling the levers of media and being expert manipulators of mob psychology as they so obviously are.
It’s cosmic guilt that they’re peddling, completely disassociated from any material fact, and the only way out is for their statistics to even out, by force.
Amid the calls for the prosecution of Officer Wilson, where are the calls for the prosecution of those who riot?
(1)Looting stores. (2)Burning stores and vehicles. (3)Unlawful assembly. (4)Public statements inciting violence.
