Automatically, she gets the black vote in Louisiana. That’s about 35%. Also, the teacher’s union, government deadheads, and courthouse crowd all vote for her.
That puts her at nearly 50% from the start, at least in the past. So she never had to get much crossover vote to win.
This time, however, she’s going to lose 60-40. She really flaunted her connections to Obama, and basically told her voters she didn’t care what they wanted.

She’s a member of a Louisiana political family. But, these dynasty’s are crumbling. Examples, Landrieu /Louisiana, Pryor/arkansas, Udall/Colorado. And, there’s hope in Massachusetts, as there are only remaining a few drug addled Kennedys.
The state’s newspapers have also helped keep Mary propped up. The (New Orleans) Times Picayune, The (Baton Rouge) Advocate, and the Gannetoids in Shreveport, Monroe, Alexandria, and Lafayette.
But the influence of newspapers is waning fast. Mass layoffs, fewer readers, etc.
