A US lawmaker's communications director was facing social media calls she be sacked after her Facebook rant about President Barack Obama's daughters prompted widespread anger.
Elizabeth Lauten, spokeswoman for Republican Congressman Stephen Fincher of Tennessee, wrote a scathing post to her Facebook account scolding Malia and Sasha Obama, 16 and 13, for looking bored while attending a public event with their father on Wednesday.
In the post, since deleted but widely reproduced in screen grabs, Lauten tells the girls to "try showing a little class. At least respect the part you play."
The girls stood beside Obama -- looking vaguely bored -- as he issued the annual Thanksgiving turkey "pardon," saving two birds from the dinner table.

She merely criticized their behavior. Lefties need thicker skin.
What are you trying to imply with your rather pointless, stupid question?
If you're having a rough day and you need some form of releasing stress, why don't you take out "Gertie" from underneath your bed, blow her up and punch the crap out of her the way you usually do to make yourself feel better. I want no part in your troll attack.
"By their fruits shall ye know them."
I have to agree with you 100 per cent.
They are teenage girls...not their prima donna father.
Still waiting for the apology to Sarah Palins kids. Until then cry me a river
Obama is very boring and embarrassing. Teenagers can’t hide that kind of emotion when it’s happening right in front of them. The girls are being put through what the entire field of Democrat candidates in the last election avoided like the plague. Being seen with him.
Children should not be used as political props, or be conscripted by adults to further the political goals of the adults. This is exactly what Barack Obama did to his girls.
By the way, for those who follow education threads, they have seen me post this many times.
Other examples:
—Parents should not force children into public K-12 schooling in an effort to improve the irredeemable schools.
—Children should not be conscripted as Christian missionaries and forced into government K-12 schooling in an effort to spread the gospel in these godless places.
Why is his letting his daughter dress that way?
Yes, criticism is appropriate. It should be directed at Obama and his handlers.
That was my opinion after looking at that picture. They were being used for a photo op and probably didn’t want to be there. Especially when the old man is bloviating.
I wasn’t bothered by their attire either. They are dressed like others their age.
Since it’s a Republican, they call for firing. If it had been a democrat left-leaning media sycophant, it would be ignored.
Regardless, the girls should not be targeted or criticized.
And this is news in France (AFP) because????
I agree, iff you are using them as a political prop they are fair game...what the lady said was spot on...they looked bored
No, they are not 10 and 15. They are 16 and 13. Agreed you should not call out little kids, but these girls are teenagers who should know better. At this age, they’re past any “off limits.” Malia will be an adult in 1.5 years. Moo knows nothing about dressing appropriately so it’s no wonder she’s passed that ignorance down to the girls. Did Amy dress like a slut? No. Did Chelsea dress like a slut? No. Did the Bush girls dress like sluts? No. Do the Obama girls dress like sluts? Well, if the teeny tiny hemline shows all the way up, then yes they do. Seriously, when your sweater is longer than your skirt, something is wrong. I was lenient and certainly not of a position that my children’s clothing should meet protocol but I would NEVER have let them out of the house looking like they belonged on a street corner. Fine if Moo wants to dress like thrift store discards and not follow a proper dresser’s advice but she should take this opportunity to have her daughters learn how to behave and present themselves in public. Fine, let them roll their eyes at their daddy in their WH quarters but that is not to be done at a presidential ceremony in front of tv cameras. Low class, no class.
GOP Staffer Apologizes For Lecturing Obama Daughters To ‘Show A Little Class’

The Obamas should give the girls the option of making appearances or not. If they choose to, they need to dress and behave appropriately. If they want to dress like trash and act like brats, that’s fine with me. Do it in private.
Those skirts are way too short and are totally inappropriate for this family event. They would not even pass our school dress code.
They were raised with a sense of entitlement and not a sense of thankfulness and duty.
I’d look bored, too. Rolling my eyes, mouthing “you lie” every sentence or two.
