A US lawmaker's communications director was facing social media calls she be sacked after her Facebook rant about President Barack Obama's daughters prompted widespread anger.
Elizabeth Lauten, spokeswoman for Republican Congressman Stephen Fincher of Tennessee, wrote a scathing post to her Facebook account scolding Malia and Sasha Obama, 16 and 13, for looking bored while attending a public event with their father on Wednesday.
In the post, since deleted but widely reproduced in screen grabs, Lauten tells the girls to "try showing a little class. At least respect the part you play."
The girls stood beside Obama -- looking vaguely bored -- as he issued the annual Thanksgiving turkey "pardon," saving two birds from the dinner table.

FTA :The post quickly drew ire on Twitter and elsewhere, with many calling for Lauten to be fired, even after Lauten deleted it and posted an apology.
"After many hours of prayer, talking to my parents, and re-reading my words online I can see more clearly just how hurtful my words were," Lauten wrote on Facebook, also widely reproduced before she made her page private.

There is so much to attack the Obamas' for. There's a veritable endless number of topics to choose from. I believe Lauten should be fired for being so incredibly stupid for giving the opposition a reason to show how mean-spirited Republicans are.
Generally speaking, it's never a good idea to attack the children of politicians. It just makes you look bad and is basically a defenseless posture. The same reaction occurred when Rush called The Clinton's daughter a "dog". It's crass, tacky. Leave the kids out of it.
She is the one without class. Besides. She gave one of the dumbest apologies I've ever heard. What kind of idiot prays before making a non-apology apology? "I'd like to apologize to all of those who I have hurt and offended with my words, and I pledge to learn and grow (and I assure you I have) from this experience," she added.
Not a big fan of Rush but in defense of Rush, he NEVER called Chelsea Clinton a dog.

Back in the early ‘80’s we lived in Kenya, had no TV and were very much out of touch with current US “fashion trends”. My wife & kids were visiting the “mall” during a trip to Nairobi when two Western teenaged girls walked by with the latest punk outfits, complete with dog chains around their necks.
As our six year old daughter, jaw dropped in astonishment, swiveled her head to watch them pass, my wife asked her, “well, what do you think?”
She replied, “Oh, Mommie, don’t they have mothers?”
Same comment applies in this case.
Being saddened by her apology and mocking her apology, calling it stupid are two sides of the same coin. Why is mocking her for making a stupid apology anything remotely PC?

The fact is, Rush Limbaugh never calls Chelsea a "Dog" verbally but his reference to her as a dog by juxtaposing a picture of a dog in reference to her name is hardly much of a difference.

The same GOPe that always cautions conservatives to back down will probably fall over themselves to offer similar apologies even though they did not say anything.
The American people sent a message that they want Obama stopped. They want Leaders who will tell it like it is (Ted!) and really stick it to Obama. They want Leaders who will shut down the government if necessary to drive a stake through the heart of Obamacare. They want Leaders who will defend the Constitution by impeaching Obama.
The same GOPe people complaining about a simple matter of fashion criticism will also likely be the loudest to complain if Obama was not allowed to give the State of the Union.
Unfortunately, the lame stream media will keep this in the headlines to cover for a lack of policy in Ukraine, the Middle East, and the IRS scandal, Fast and Furious, etc

I think it’s classless and small to go after people’s kids, no matter how much you loathe the person. Their wives too, for that matter (just because they’re their wives), except for the stupid things their wives say or do on their own. I don’t care if the other side does it or not. I refuse to lower myself to the level of classless liberals and other low-class people.
When you are in the White House your whole family is a public figure. Nothing is off limits. PC crap. The criticism of the kids was valid there is nothing to apologize for. Short memory you have. Where were you when George Bush’s daughters were being criticized all over the media? Hmm?
She deserves every bit of nastiness she gets. This woman is lower than pond scum and that is pretty bad. Picking on a 10 and 15 year old.....Repulsive. She seriously needs to grow up.
I guess it is "hurtful" to describe them the way they appear accurately.
